GENERAL INFORMATION Writing is a key component to success in all areas of life. As your child progresses in school, the demands for formal writing increase and the opportunity for creative expression seem to suffer. We work hard to provide students plenty of opportunities to be creative and to also develop strong, formal writing skills. Writing is done daily in class and students will be keeping a separate section in their binders for their writing. One section will hold their grammar notes and practice, and the other section will hold all of their writing strategies and works in progress. Throughout the year, your child will practice using a number of different planning strategies and will learn to edit and revise independently. In order to become strong writers, the students must develop the skills to monitor their own strengths and weaknesses in writing.
